Northwest Motorsports' roots go back to 1954 and the original Sports Car Club of Spokane. SCCS members created Northwest Motorsports to promote and host regional sports car races in Spokane. Northwest Motorsports became a member of the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs and hosted its first ICSCC championship race at the Deer Park, WA airport in September, 1959.
Northwest Motorsports hosted ICSCC Championship races and other events at the Deer Park airport from 1959 until the mid-eighties, when pavement conditions and aviation uses at the airport prevented further sports car races. Northwest Motorsports continued to promote and host a wide variety of motorsports, community and charity events in the Spokane area through the early nineties, when it again began hosting full-fledged ICSCC Championship Series races at what is now Spokane County Raceway.
